Some time ago I had the pleasure of composing a piece of music for string quartet, and having that piece recorded by session musicians at Soundgram Studios. In this case, the musicians only had the sheet music and a demo; I didn’t direct them personally. The resulting recording, however, was precisely what I had in mind, and it’s just magical to see how that works: from notes on a piece of paper to an actual recording. Mix was done by me.
